SHIP MODEL RIGGING LINE, BLACK NYLON TWIST Originally made from European, Russian, and American hemp and sisal. By the mid-19th century, lighter, stronger and more able Manila hemp rope was used. Both standing and running rigging was treated with Stockholm tar, a dark brown pine tar derivative, as preservative.
